There are endless combinations of qualities can be designed according to various job profiles. Every industry demands separate skills to get the best performance & and output from their employees. And for this research, the companies set a separate placement & recruitment department to choose the best talent among thousands or lacks applicants. The recruitment cell is composed of different types of personals who are experts in their profession and has the ability to judge the people rightly. HR, Manager & technical experts are the main components consist in hiring department. The field of engineering has multiple sub-disciplines which have their own requirements. Instead of the expertise in a field, there are some common qualities that recruiters look for in engineers to hire. Especially for the fresher, this is the most important phase of their life to have a successful and fruitful career ahead.   • Grades: Your academic profile speaks a lot about you. Many companies have prescribed the minimum percentile for the selection process and they won’t entertain the candidates below their set criteria. So every engineer students must focus on their studies from the initial period of the engineering curriculum to seek lots of opportunities.
  • Contribution in other activities: Grades are not the sole criteria to define yourself. Many times the highest grade achiever not able to select as he/ she lacks in other areas. An engineering study is not only about the bookish knowledge but more emphasis on a practical approach. To decade any issue while working only the real world methodologies gives a quick solution. So to groom the student's overall personality and to make him all-rounder the engineering college conduct workshops on various topics, exhibitions, cultural-technical-fest, competitions, events, recreational activities, industrial visits and other extracurricular activities to enhance students skills. The student should take part in these activities as its achievements, certificates help them to outshine among the crowds.
  • Problem Solving and Analytical Thinking: This is one of the most important qualities that an interviewer eagerly looks for in applicants. To check this they generally asked tricky questions like challenges you face, strength & weakness or situation based question etc. This is important as real-time environment continuously adapting to new technologies, to deal with it a person must have a strong aptitude and analytical approach.
  • Interpersonal Skills: The interpersonal skill is quite an important aspect of industries. Corporate life is indifferent from college life, here your sole performance doesn’t help you to chase targets or reach to goals. Team efforts are must to achieve the success and have this you must know how to manage and deal with your colleagues. The interviewer judge your attitude towards people, behavior among the society, your social inclination, emotional quotient by asking your hobbies, interest, your past achievements, analyzing your performance in Group discussion and through other mediums.

  • Technical Skills: These skills can be evaluated by conducting machine test or separate technical round which one is preferable according to the job profile. For the actual accomplishment of a task in real time environment technically sound in that domain is a must. Academics help you to build the foundation and as you gain the experience in the field, it helps you to attain the expertise. So engineering students must apply for an internship program in their respective industries. It gives them a good platform to learn the new concepts, explore their knowledge, consolidation of textbook concepts and practical implementation of it. Also, the internship experience gives the applicant extra advantage.
